A great article...and typical of some man to say that "you never until..." Probably, if you'd probed further, he still thinks women don't need equal rights. And there's a resurgence all over the world of just such thinking... I have to say I've never heard of Mary Astell, but thank heaven for women like her who proved that females of that time were not as brainless as some men considered them to be.Tricia McGillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02096440033015601944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6386912343147794659.post-63089824210433379222014-06-24T11:53:12.097-06:002014-06-24T11:53:12.097-06:00Wonderful post, Diane. As writers of historical fiction, we strive to present our characters in their time, who think and act accordingly, and not 21st century people dressed in period garb who are plopped into an historical setting. While Mary was in many ways ahead of her time, most women of the 17th - 19th centuries held to the belief systems of their respective eras. I wonder what she'd think of women's place in today's world :-) Kathy Fischer-Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08846116949645699035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6386912343147794659.post-7502883041990657482014-06-24T11:39:47.665-06:002014-06-24T11:39:47.665-06:00Fascinating, Diane.
