I've noticed lot...Thanks for posting, Margaret. I've noticed lots of similarities in the American and Australian past, especially the "Wild West" aspect. What makes me ponder are the many reasons those settlers opted for such a life. Then, when I think about how the cities of the time were probably just as cruel, with the poverty, overcrowding, and no way to earn a decent livelihood, it occurs to me that it was hope...the same reason that brought many immigrants to our American shores in the first place.
