I can recall a day when my mother was on the warpath trying to catch a mouse that had eluded her and all her traps. While Mum's back was turned I saw the little grey escapee and made a noise so it ran away and she didn't thump it with her broom. I wasn't so lenient as I grew older. I was in the vets once and a young girl came in with her two pet rats draped across her chest. Ugh! to each his own. I too love fall the best, and the images of your home and the nocturnal visitors are such fun. The cairn terrier I can understand, but two of our springer spaniels were also quite adept.Kathy Fischer-Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08846116949645699035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6386912343147794659.post-63065638918510998912014-10-23T08:26:40.404-06:002014-10-23T08:26:40.404-06:00yes, some cats are "killers" and others ...yes, some cats are "killers" and others aren't, although the non-hunters have got to be in the minority. This was exactly the house cat you needed--small, in gray and white camo and wired to hunt. I've lived through an invasion of brown rats in an old house, once upon a time, and it was scary--I had a new baby--and horrible. I love the story of Amy--a real stand up for her rights kinda gal! We moved into a house, not nearly as old as yours but it had been a boarding house. We had a cat, Tiger and a mouse ran across the floor. Fearless cat, No! He leaped from the floor to the dining room table and cowered. We were gifted with a small gray and white kitten. The next morning I went into the hall and there were seventeen dead mice lined up along the hall. Within a week, we never saw another mouse. I do think this small cat could have killed a rat. Nosy once did in an angry blue jay.Janet Lane Waltershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15488093917556546485noreply@blogger.com
