Did they even read the blurb? It screams romance. It's called sci-fi romance. They feel that if Alexander McCall Smith says it's a good book, that I will rush out and buy it. If writing style is important to other readers as it is to me, how can anyone rely on these comments?Karla Stoverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14222199844845334313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6386912343147794659.post-17416120235176154822015-02-05T12:19:14.115-07:002015-02-05T12:19:14.115-07:00Reviews. I know I've tried. Used to do this for a review site many years ago. Hardest was to find a way to say at least one nice thing when the book was really bad. There's no bigger thrill as an author than if someone other than family or friends ie: a complete stranger (!) leaves a five star review for one of your books. On the other hand, if I get a bad review, I always tell myself I don't like everything I read either. :)A.M. I'm not into sci-fi, so I steer clear, doesn't matter how many free ones there are. Yet, I've received reviews saying just that. I think my worst review was one the reader said don't buy it because the punctuation in the blurb was bad. Never read the book. I think marking them as unhelpful is a great idea. Great post. I enjoyed your humor. Sorry you didn't get your plaque. This book had gotten five and four star reviews, until this reader chimed in. Granted, AMITR has steamy romance, but no way would I consider it porn, but hey, maybe I should look on the bright side, the porn comment may sell more copies, right?
