COWBOY KISSES

I discovered there is a restaurant in Mahattan, New York (around Third Ave. and 27th Street), named the Rodeo Bar and Grill. . .Honky Tonk.

Oh, so perfect!  What more could a western contemporary romance novelist desire in a dining experience?

Now that I've set you up with a lovely teaser, it would be darn right unfair of me to keep all those Cowboy Kisses for myself.  Wouldn't it?

Make at home version:

16 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined

16 pickled jalapenos, seeded, washed and sliced in half

16 slicces of bacon (Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon is a good choice, too).

Toothpicks Chipotle Dipping Sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise (I favor low-fat)1-2 chipotle in adobo, seeded and minced
1/2 lime, squeezed

Preheat oven to 425F.
Place a shript inside the jalapeno and then wrap woth bacon.  Insert 1 or 2 toothpicks to secure.  Do the same with all the shrimp.

Place in a baking pan.  Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then broil for 2-3 minutes until crispy.

Serve hot or room temperature with chipotle dipping sauce.

For the finished dipping sauce:
Place all ingredients in food processor (I use my blender) and pulse until combined.  You will still have small pieces of chipotle but dipping sauce will turn pink.

Serve with shrimp and beverage of choice.

What Woman Doesn't Love A Cowboy?

I was sitting on a hard, cold wooden bench, watching a rodeo in Thedford, Nebraska at the time.  This town had been a spot on my usual off-the-tourist radar places I frequent during family vacations.  This was the second time my husband, two young sons and I, had visited the small town and were absorbing the ambiance the western United States offered.  My father,  a fourth-generation Texan, amature rodeoed when he attended high school, so I understood the battering bronc riding had on the body. However, I hadn’t realized how strong the rodeo fan base was outside of the Lone Star State.

Everyone I’d spoken to loved cowboys, though he/she was a cowboy/cowgirl, wanted to become a cowboy, or simply loved the concept of ‘being a cowboy’.
That was when Lynx Maddox entered my life.
What a cowboy!
With a dangerous reputation for taking chances and tempting, fate, rugged cowboy Lynx Maddox had one goal in life—to win the coveted Silver Buckle rodeo championship.  But when he sets eyes on lovely Rachel Scott, he becomes determined to capture her as well. . .

I hope you enjoy reading my Rodeo Romances.  “Lynx” is Book 1 of the series.

BWL Blurbathon presents: Dummy & Me! by Sydell Voeller

Fifteen-year-old Deanna Lambert is miserable. She can't find her niche with the popular kids at school and believes she is ugly. Then too, after her mother deserted the family to pursue an acting career in New York City, Deanna's father has grown distant and embittered. Now Deanna is saddled with most all the chores at home—and she and her dad barely communicate.

Yet Deanna's one happy escape is her volunteer work at the nearby Children's Hospital. There the activities director convinces her to get back into her ventriloquism, a creative skill Deanna's grandfather had taught her years earlier.

Deanna and her puppet, Ramblin' Roy, entertain and delight the young hospital patients, but Deanna is worried. What if the kids at her school discover what she's doing? Will they think she's just “a baby” who still plays with dolls?

Deanna takes the risk, but one problem soon leads to another. Can she ever gain true acceptance at school, especially from Jason, the guy whom she has a major crush on?  And most of all, can Deanna embrace her gift of ventriloquism, and in so doing, come to terms with her mother's leaving?

BWL Blurbathon Presents: Reluctant Date by Sheila Claydon

In a rut, and with her love life at an all time low, Claire Harris makes a New Year’s resolution to join an Internet dating agency. Her challenge is twelve dates or twelve months, whichever comes first, unless she is lucky enough to meet Mister Right along the way. On her final date, and convinced that only frogs are left in the dating pool, she is relieved that it’s nearly over…until she meets enigmatic American, Daniel Marchant. The only problem is, his brother has set him up, and Daniel makes it very clear that he’s not interested in dating anyone at all. He is looking for someone to work in his developing conservation research company though, and when he discovers that Claire has the photographic and cataloguing skills he needs, he offers her a dream job in Florida.

But Dolphin Key is not as idyllic as it seems. There are too many secrets and too much heartache. And Claire has her own secrets as well. Not that she is going to share them with anyone, least of all with Daniel, because he must never know he has stolen her heart.
