Review – Nancy M. Bell
All in the Furry Family is an endearing
sequel to O'Finlan's earlier All the Furs and Feathers. Some suspected
stalkers turn out to be a wonderful surprise and the big wedding of
Abigail and Greyson goes off without a hitch ~ well almost.
A totally enjoyable read.
Remnants Of Pryr
Tobias Robbins
Robbins, Tobias - BWL Publishing Inc.
The reclusive archivist, Isten, has taken on the unenviable task
of cataloging the history of his world before time runs out and the land of
Pryr comes to a devastating end. Curating this assortment challenges Isten to reevaluate
his beliefs about his home and his place within it. Concepts such as faith,
bigotry, love, and power will have to be dissected if Isten is going to tell
the tale of this strange land.
Recounted through a selection of diverse
documents, this is the testimony of a dominion in which magic and science work
in tandem, though the nations do not. The land
of Pryr is home to
opposing cultures that compete over territory, mythical artifacts, and
forbidden knowledge. Each person must decide how to utilize their Blood
Blessing to help them survive in this
chaotic world.
When one of the ancient founders of Pryr returns after a long
exile and claims the world will soon end, the nations must adapt and learn to
work together. If not, the Breath of Ruination will bring about a world-ending
catastrophe. The kaleidoscopic cast, including gods,
assassins, poets, and scientists, provides interlocking accounts in this
geo-political drama that dates back to the founding of civilization.
Editorial Review: JD Shipton
The chronicling of a world’s birth and
death. Ordinary people and heroes and
forces beyond the comprehension of all but the gods.
Do not approach this book as a toddler to
their highchair, as you’ll not be spoon-fed anything. You get to see this world as the archivist
sees it, assemble it as they assemble it: through reports, journals, and other
gathered data. Unconventional in the
telling, but timeless in the message, this book has much to offer the vigilant
reader.
Little Blue
Jay Lang
New York musician Jude Rossi's world is shattered when his 14-year-old daughter, Little Blue—a rising star in the music scene—dies unexpectedly at her record deal party. Though the coroner's report lists "overdose," Jude knows that his daughter's disdain for drugs means there's something far more sinister at play. With no means to investigate, he spirals into a dark abyss of grief, turning his back on his once-thriving music career.
Two years later, Jude works as a low-paid janitor in a boxing gym. One fateful night he encounters Mad Madge, a homeless woman claiming she can reconnect him with his daughter. Desperate and intoxicated, he consumes a strange serum and is thrust into a nightmarish realm. There, Little Blue's spirit reveals that a snake-tattooed man is responsible for her death, igniting a fierce hunger for vengeance when Jude awakens in a hospital bed.
As Jude spirals deeper into his obsession, he meets Lauren Banks, an addiction psychology student who distracts him from his deadly vendetta. With her help, he begins to reclaim the life he lost, even landing a job at her father's entertainment law firm. But the haunting messages from spirits pull him back into the darkness, unraveling a web of truths about music industry execs and his daughter's tragic end.
Nothing will stop Jude from seeking revenge for his little girl. However, he is unprepared for the lengths some will go to protect their secrets and power
Editorial Review by Victoria Chatham
Jude Rossi's career as a guitarist in a rock band ends the night his fourteen-year-old daughter dies from a drug overdose. Haunted by her death, Jude barely holds his life together. He sells all but one of his guitars and leaves the music scene behind him. Lost in grief, Jude has little direction or ambition until he meets an unsavoury woman named Madge, who says she knows someone who can help him and introduces him to Warlock. From there, Jude drifts between fantasy and reality.
After being taken to hospital suffering from a suspected drug overdose, even though he tells the doctor that he does not indulge in drugs, he meets psychology intern Lauren. Between Lauren, Madge, and Little Blue, Jude concludes that she was murdered and vows to uncover the truth.
Author Jay Lang has extensive knowledge of the music industry, its highs and lows, and, above all, its extremes. She skillfully blends the themes of love, loss, and grief with paranormal and mystery elements to produce a sometimes dark tale that deals with some hard truths. This intriguing story ends on an uplifting note, with hope for a happier future for Jude.

Noiseletting, An editorial review by JD Shipton
Most of us normies have little more insight into the music we listen to than that we stream it online, maybe add it to a playlist, and maybe go see the live show if we like it well enough. Sometimes the lyrics and the sound really speak to us, and we become a little more attached to the song or the artist, but rarely are we able to see beyond the surface of this auditory pond to witness the splendor and the carnage beneath. Fry’s book hands you a snorkel and some goggles.
Whether you’ve never even picked up a recorder, or you’re out there on the road with your own band of misfits, this book has a great deal to offer on the music industry and the battles of an artist through his storied career, all presented by a musician who should not have had time to become so clever a writer.
"Byron is THE real deal. Every single time we've met or talked, I seem to learn something from him. He's always able to open a door that I've not seen. Read this book and see for yourself..."
- Erkka Korhonen, Multi-Platinum Record Producer, Arranger, Guitarist
"I've been nominated for a Grammy and a Golden Globe, and have worked with some of the finest musicians in the world. I put Byron in that category. He's pitch-perfect in everything he does...working with him was a real pleasure. He is always spot-on."
- Frank Stallone, Hit Recording Artist / Songwriter, Actor
Such a diverse group of novels! A great reflection of BWL Publishing, to be sure.
